Environmental Consulting Services

JMD Environmental Consulting LLC provides environmental consulting services to support federal, state, and private clients in regulatory compliance, environmental planning, and sustainable land management, with experience serving clients across the United States.

NEPA Compliance

JMD Environmental Consulting LLC provides environmental review and analysis supporting the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Environmental evaluations may incorporate elements of the NRCS Conservation Planning Process, including resource inventory, resource analysis, and evaluation of environmental effects associated with proposed actions. Assessments consider natural resource concerns commonly described within the NRCS SWAPA+H framework (Soil, Water, Air, Plants, Animals, Energy, and Human considerations).

Environmental analysis may also incorporate approaches consistent with federal land resource evaluation, monitoring, and reclamation procedures used by agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Services include onsite environmental assessments, evaluation of potential offsite impacts, and analysis of ecological indicators relevant to project locations. Environmental reviews may also recognize the need for cultural resource inventory and evaluation consistent with federal environmental review procedures and interdisciplinary analysis.

Environmental evaluations may also consider ecosystem services, representing the benefits that natural systems provide to human communities. These services may include provisioning resources such as food, water, and biological materials; regulating functions such as climate moderation, flood protection, water purification, and pollination; cultural values related to recreation, aesthetics, and historical significance; and supporting ecological processes such as soil formation, nutrient cycling, and primary productivity.

These assessments support environmental documentation, evaluation of alternatives, and informed decision-making for federal, state, and private sector projects.

Services include preparation of Determinations of NEPA Adequacy (DNA), Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments (EAs), Supplemental EAs, and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS/SEIS)

Wetland Delineation

JMD Environmental Consulting LLC conducts wetland delineations using established federal methodologies, including guidance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual and applicable NRCS technical standards. Services include on-site field assessments to identify hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and wetland hydrology indicators. Offsite evaluation methods may include analysis of aerial imagery, soil surveys, topographic data, and other geospatial resources to support accurate delineation and environmental planning. These assessments help clients understand potential jurisdictional wetlands and support regulatory compliance and responsible land management.

LiDAR Terrain Analysis

JMD Environmental Consulting LLC utilizes LiDAR-derived terrain data and geospatial analysis tools, including ArcGIS Pro, to support environmental assessment and land management planning. LiDAR imagery and digital elevation models are used to identify landscape features such as drainage patterns, depressional areas, and potential wetland indicators. These analyses support wetland determinations, site evaluations, and the preparation of clear, presentation-quality maps that assist clients and agencies in understanding environmental conditions and project locations. These geospatial capabilities are applied across all service areas, from wetland boundary mapping to watershed planning and NEPA documentation.

Agronomic Consulting

JMD Environmental Consulting LLC provides agronomic consulting services supporting sustainable land management, soil health, and crop production systems. Services include evaluation of soil conditions, crop management practices, and conservation strategies that promote environmentally responsible agricultural production. Drawing on expertise in agronomy, seed technology, and plant establishment, the firm assists landowners, agricultural producers, and project developers in implementing practices that balance agricultural productivity with environmental stewardship.

JMD Environmental Consulting LLC provides technical consulting services supporting oil and gas surface management, permitting, and reclamation. Services include review and processing of Applications for Permit to Drill (APDs), Notices of Staking (NOS), Plans of Development (PODs), and Sundry Notices. The firm provides expertise in surface disturbance evaluation, reclamation planning, and best management practices (BMPs) to support responsible energy development and successful land restoration following drilling and production activities.

Drawing on firsthand experience with fluid-mineral programs at the Bureau of Land Management, the firm provides guidance on surface-use compliance, environmental impact analysis, and reclamation success monitoring for energy-sector clients.

These assessments support project permitting, environmental review, and responsible land stewardship.
